How do I choose a width?
What size harness should my dog wear?
XS & Small Dogs - Girth lengths 9"-20" by 1/2" wide - Best for dogs under 20 lbs.
Medium Dogs - Girth lengths 12"-30" by 3/4" wide
Large & XL Dogs - Girth lengths 19"-38" by 1" wide
The most accurate way to choose the correct size range is to measure your dog - but don't worry, it's easy!
A fabric dressmaker's tape measure is easiest and most accurate. Or, a piece of string can also be used and then measured.
Measure the dog's girth (around the ribcage at the
widest point) comfortably snug against the fur while the dog is standing.
Take the actual measurement and add 5% to determine the best size range.
Example: Actual measurement is 20" + 5% = 21"

I have 7 toy poodles ranging from 5 to 9 lbs, 8”-10” tall. I am always on the lookout for V-neck harnesses without velcro. I have many of the Lupine roman harnesses in regular and reflective fabrics in 1/2” width and 9”-14” girth. I prefer the reflective tape fabric because it is thinner, softer and more flexible. I do wish this weight tape came in all the pretty patterns. They cooperate so nicely getting these harnesses on and I feel confident that, if I have adjusted them well, they won’t slip out or gag from pressure on the throat. Love these! Want more colors and patterns????
I have a 4 1/2 month old toy poodle and I live on a fairly busy street. I have bought her MANY harnesses. This is the best, most secure, one that I have found. I also love that it is reflective. That way, if we need to cross the street and someone decides to speed down the hill, hopefully they will see us! I live in the Northeast and it gets dark early here in the winter.
The two things that are not great is that there is no clasp on the front. This means that I Have to loosen and tighten the head part every time I put it on. Also, the chest strap, when it is tightened sufficiently for my toy poodle, falls out of the strap that runs underneath. It's a small thing, but, since she is a puppy, I have to take her out first thing in the morning and it can be challenging to put on before I've had my coffee.
Putting those little irritations aside, this harness is GREAT. For me, security and safety are key and this one fits snuggly and my super-agile little puppy can't wiggle out. She loves her walks.
I have 2 permanent residents and I foster dogs. I buy a handful of harnesses and leashes every year and keep a stock pile of about a dozen in the house. The solid reflective roman harnesses are by far my all time favorite
I have all four colors currently available and I wish they would make more. I get compliments every time we meet someone new and I love the reflective thread - especially during the summer when we tend to walk at dusk and dawn to avoid the majority of the heat. Please make this available in more colors Lupine!
I bought the Orange Diamond harness to help my speedy black dog stand out, especially in twilight conditions. It looks even better than I thought it would. I may have to get a matching collar for the fall. Thank you for making these!
